Community Partnerships

We love working with our community partners at Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary in order to provide enriching educational experiences for our students. We believe these partnerships are essential in helping students make meaningful connections between their learning and their lives outside of school.

Soft Choice Cares

We are thrilled to partner with Soft Choice Cares as the recipient of their Power Up! Grant for technology. Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary was one of only 5 grant recipients across the nation to receive $10,000 for our school. Our students are now learning from 70 new chromebooks thanks to the generosity of the Soft Choice Cares program.

Monarch Heroes is a two-year, project-based learning program in Texas that engages and empowers students and community members to create Schoolyard Habitats in support of both the monarch butterfly and outdoor learning. Since 2015, there have been nearly 200 Monarch Heroes campuses across six cities in Texas. This year, Hawthorne will be part of this wonderful program! We will have them in our garden area.

The Giving Grove - Little Orchards, Big Impact.

The Giving Grove’s mission is to provide healthy calories, strengthen community, and improve the urban environment through a nationwide network of sustainable little orchards.

Hawthorne established its first orchard with the support of Giving Grove in February 2023. We currently have 10 pear trees, 2 fig varieties, and blackberry bushes! We will begin harvesting our fruit in three years to share with our students and community members.

We grow a healthier world, one school garden at a time.

We started our partnership with Grow Garden Grow in 2022. Grow Garden Grow has been instrumental in supporting our school garden efforts through mentorship experiences.

Girl Scouts isn’t just a moment in her life, it’s a movement dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

We offer Girl Scouts programming to our K-5 students on a weekly basis in an after school setting.
